Three groundbreaking world conquerors nominated for 39th edition Rotterdam Entrepreneur Award

CEAD,Van Donge & De Roo and Hollandia Services are the finalists of the Rotterdam Entrepreneur Award 2024. The nominees for the New Heroes Award 2024 are Zepp.solutions, Qlayers and Battolyser Systems. That is extremely clever.” Robert Tans, department head of Economy, received all nominees during a meeting at the Rotterdam City Hall. The presentation of both awards will take place on June 4 at the Rotterdam Stadshaven Brewery.

The Rotterdam Entrepreneur Award is the award for entrepreneurship in the Rotterdam metropolis. “The world has changed significantly in recent years,” said Van Dam. “The time when sustainability was something that ‘had to be added’ is over. In the process, people have become increasingly central. Our finalists are all impactful entrepreneurs with a future-oriented, sustainable vision. Social impact and a people-oriented approach are natural drivers for them.”

The three nominees for the Rotterdam Entrepreneur Award!

CEAD develops, builds and supplies large-format 3D printers worldwide, which allow large industrial parts to be made in one go. This efficient production process skips many intermediate steps, resulting in faster and cheaper production. The jury labeled CEAD as “a gem of a company. “Young entrepreneurs have built an impressive company in Delft that is groundbreaking on many fronts. They offer a technologically superior product. Van Donge & De Roo is one of the largest family freight forwarders. This company consists of several companies, active in freight forwarding, shipbroker, software development and intermodal transport, among others. Hollandia Services specializes in renovation and maintenance of infrastructural waterworks, such as bridges, locks and storm surge barriers. Holland Services is part of the 96-year-old family business Hollandia. From its foundation, Hollandia has been closely linked to the Rotterdam region. It is a stable employer for permanent and flexible personnel and a cooperation partner for customers, suppliers and subcontractors. Hollandia built, renovated and maintained many Rotterdam icons over the years, such as the Willemsbrug, the Van Brienenoordbrug, the Maeslantkering and the award-winning Radar Tower on Maasvlakte II. Leading companies

Previous winners of the Rotterdam Entrepreneur Award have included top companies such as Hells Kitchen, Hello Print, Tchai International, Coolblue, Schmidt Zeevis and Quooker. On behalf of the Rotterdam Entrepreneurship Award, the Erasmus Centre for Entrepreneurship compiles an annual list of the top-50 growth companies from the Rotterdam metropolitan area. The companies on this list are directly nominated for the award. In addition, Rotterdam entrepreneurs, residents and other interested parties can submit themselves or another company for the prize. The entries are judged by the jury of the Rotterdam Entrepreneur Award, consisting of the board and the former winner of the previous edition.

The New Heroes Award is an initiative of VNO-NCW Rotterdam to strengthen the regional economy. Eligible for this award are entrepreneurs whose companies are in the innovation phase. De genomineerden voor de Nieuwe Heldenprijs 2024 zijn Zepp.solutions, Qlayers en Battolyser Systems. Dat werd op 10 april jl. officieel bekendgemaakt. “De finalisten voor de Rotterdamse Ondernemersprijs zijn stuk voor stuk grensverleggende wereldveroveraars”, zegt juryvoorzitter Ellen van Dam. “De jury is onder de indruk van hun enorme creativiteit en doorzettingsvermogen. Ondanks toenemende regelgeving blijven zij innovatief en groeien zij met een duurzame visie. Dat is buitengewoon knap.” Robert Tans, afdelingshoofd Economie, ontving alle genomineerden tijdens een bijeenkomst op het Rotterdamse gemeentehuis. De uitreiking van beide prijzen vindt plaats op 4 juni in de Rotterdamse Stadshaven Brouwerij.

De Rotterdamse Ondernemersprijs is dé award voor ondernemerschap in de metropool Rotterdam. “De wereld is de laatste jaren aanzienlijk veranderd”, zegt Van Dam. “De tijd dat duurzaamheid iets was wat erbij ‘moest’, is voorbij. Daarbij is de mens steeds centraler komen te staan. Onze finalisten zijn allen impactvolle ondernemers met een toekomstgerichte, duurzame visie. Sociale impact en een mensgerichte aanpak zijn voor hen natuurlijke drijfveren.”

“Zeker in deze tijden verdient dit soort ondernemerschap een plek in de schijnwerpers”, zegt Van Dam. “Wij mogen enorm trots zijn op deze toonaangevende bedrijven, die in de Metropool Rotterdam gevestigd zijn en zowel nationaal als internationaal impact maken!”

De drie genomineerden voor de Rotterdamse Ondernemersprijs!

CEAD ontwikkelt, bouwt en levert wereldwijd grootformaat 3D-printers, waarmee grote industriële onderdelen in één keer gemaakt kunnen worden. Dit efficiënte productieproces slaat vele tussenstappen over, wat resulteert in een snellere en goedkopere productie. Belangrijk is dat het niet enkel om het 3D-printen gaat, maar om deze vernieuwende productiemethode. De jury bestempelt CEAD als ‘een parel van een onderneming’. “Jonge ondernemers hebben in Delft een indrukwekkend bedrijf opgebouwd, dat op vele fronten grensverleggend is. Ze bieden een technologisch superieur product. Het is echt maatwerk. Daarnaast zit de toegevoegde waarde in de persoonlijke relatie. Het bedrijf ontzorgt de klant met onderhoud, scholing, maatwerk en innovatie. Het hecht bovendien veel waarde aan de eigen medewerkers. Daardoor is er een sterke bedrijfscultuur, met medewerkers die trots zijn om voor CEAD te werken.”

Van Donge & De Roo is een van de grootste familie-expediteurs. Deze onderneming bestaat uit verschillende bedrijven, die actief zijn in onder meer expeditie, cargadoor, softwareontwikkeling en intermodaal transport. Onder meer door sponsoring van Feyenoord, Excelsior en Stichting Support Casper in de strijd tegen alvleesklierkanker.”

Hollandia Services is gespecialiseerd in renovatie van en onderhoud van infrastructurele waterwerken, zoals bruggen, sluizen en stormvloedkeringen. Holland Services maakt deel uit van het 96 jaar oude familiebedrijf Hollandia. Vanaf de oprichting is Hollandia nauw verbonden aan de regio Rotterdam. Het is een stabiele werkgever voor vast en flexibel personeel en een samenwerkingspartner voor klanten, leveranciers en onderaannemers. Hollandia bouwde, renoveerde en onderhield door de jaren heen vele Rotterdamse iconen, zoals de Willemsbrug, de Van Brienenoordbrug, de Maeslantkering en de prijswinnende Radartoren op Maasvlakte II. De jury zegt over Hollandia: “Het is een oude ziel met een nieuw jong hart, dat het succes naar de toekomst gaat bepalen. Het bedrijf is ‘fit for the future’. Mede door Hollandia Services blijft de bereikbaarheid van Nederland in de breedste zin van het woord gewaarborgd.”

Topbedrijven

Eerdere winnaars van de Rotterdamse Ondernemersprijs waren onder meer topbedrijven als Hells Kitchen, Hello Print, Tchai International, Coolblue, Schmidt Zeevis en Quooker. Het Erasmus Centre for Entrepreneurship stelt in opdracht van de Rotterdamse Ondernemersprijs jaarlijks een lijst met de top-50 groeibedrijven uit de metropool Rotterdam samen. De bedrijven op deze lijst zijn direct genomineerd voor de prijs. Daarnaast kunnen Rotterdamse ondernemers, inwoners en andere belanghebbenden zichzelf of een ander bedrijf voor de prijs aanmelden. De inzendingen worden beoordeeld door de jury van de Rotterdamse Ondernemersprijs, bestaande uit het bestuur en de oud-winnaar van de voorgaande editie.

De Nieuwe Heldenprijs is een initiatief van VNO-NCW Rotterdam om de regionale economie te versterken. Voor deze prijs komen ondernemers in aanmerking die met hun bedrijf in de innovatiefase zitten. De nadruk ligt op innovatie en maatschappelijke impact. Het publiek bepaalt op 4 juni wie de winnaar wordt van de Nieuwe Heldenprijs.
